A three-storey office building near the high street in Sittingbourne. Following my mentor's meeting with the client, I prepared the sketch designs and joined the pre-application meeting with the planning officer.

The first application was refused — not on design, but because refuse vehicles couldn't reach the site at the required width. Rather than redesign blindly, I worked through the problem with the planning officer, transport consultants and refuse-collection teams to establish a workable solution. The second application was approved: a reminder that good architecture often turns on resolving the unglamorous constraints.
